Joana has a masters in Gender and Development from University of Hull in the UK. She gained experience in gender-related issues at the Ministry of Women and Children’s Affairs. Since she started working for the Gender Centre in July of 2009 she has helped to coordinate projects such as the gender-related aspect of HIV/AIDS and women’s susceptibility to HIV/AIDS.

Prior to joining the Gender Centre she worked with an auditing firm where she gained competencies in analysis and preparation of financial statements. She has experience in managing not for profit organizational accounts and has skills in project financial management.
